Re: Can you win with ChatGPT?
in Gambling discussion
Nonsense, ChatGPT can't do anything for you.

Firstly, were it not for ChatGPT it would be her magic 8 ball, her local shaman or some other nonsense. There is a thing called chance, by chance someone can win using any source of numbers. As time passes every possible scenario will play out. Secondly, this is a classic case of survivorship bias. For this winner you won't read about the thousands and thousands of people who tried this and didn't succeed.

Does ChatGPT have all the lucky nubers in its database or was it just luck? Are people now going to use ChatGPT to win the lottery?
It could have this but it does not. There is no such thing as lucky numbers. There are numbers which may have a statistically slightly higher chance of occurring based on historical data. You can do this computation yourself and you would get much more accurate results than what ChatGPT would provide you. Still, this would not guarantee that you would win anything ever.

Re: The 3 functions of money; the stage btc is currently.
in Bitcoin Discussion
Bitcoin already fulfills all of these functions. People have the wrong impression that these are binary scales, either you are fulfilling it or you are not. That is incorrect. You can fulfill some functions less and others more. Further, people tend to point out that something is being fulfilled less without providing context or reasons why this is so.

3. Unit of Account (UoA)
This is when prices of goods and services are measured and denominated in that currency, not converted from another one.
Btc is not yet here, the world still measures BTC’s value in USD terms, but as I and many others believe that one day hyperbitcoinization will happen, at that time, sats will become the standard pricing unit.
This tends to be referred to as the weakest link but primarily because people have a very limited understanding of the world. There are countries where the dollar is often used as a unit of account despite them having their own currency. Does this mean that their own currency is failing as a unit of account? Of course not, that would be ridiculous. The unit of account part is highly dependent on human habits and the context of where the human is, it often does not say anything about the money in question.

Assume the following: Everyone is listing their second hand computers on a reseller website in dollars. I want to use Bitcoin as a unit of account, I am a Bitcoin maxi. How do I know that I am not going to get a bad deal, i.e., sell my computer for too cheap? That's right, I have to look at what everyone else is doing and compare it. I can't just say alright I am selling my computer for 50 000 satoshi. It could be way too little or way too much. This issue becomes significantly worse if you are selling products that rely on procuring goods (or you are selling the goods themselves) from distributors. You could easily bankrupt yourself by not paying attention to the USD value of the BTC amount that you are using for the unit of account. Most people are not going to want to be doing this back and forth on a regular basis, so they will just skip the intermediary unit of account (Bitcoin) and default to USD.

The unit of account becomes relevant only after hyperbitcoinization, it is not a prerequisite for hyperbitcoinization to happen. It is a bit like the chicken and egg problem.

Re: ~1026-byte OP_RETURN ASCII as non-standard by MARA
in Bitcoin Discussion
So my question is, is MARA running a new v.30 build already? Or have they just been allowing non-standard OP_RETURNs bigger than the 80-byte limit for a while now as non-standard transactions?
Lifting the OP RETURN limit is so trivial that someone without coding skills could do it with the help of AI. If they have mined any non standard OP_RETURNs in the past then they have been running a custom patch.

And if so why are all the wars about the limit of OP_RETURN?
1. Misinformation.
2. Luke-jr capitalizing on misinformation to regain some relevance for himself and Knots.
3. Paid campaigns.

In the end, I still can't figure out the "wars" over the OP_RETURN limit. Creating junk on-chain (like the one I did) has been a thing for years now. A higher OP_RETURN limit isn't going to suddenly make people upload "wtf content" to the blockchain... we've had that ability for ages.
There are many other ways to create the junk that are more detrimental, so OP_RETURN is the least of our problems.

So no matter the op_return limit by 2035 we will have 2-3TB ledger anyway.
Sounds about right. It isn't that bad at all I'd say, especially considering the blockchain sizes of shitcoins. I wonder if 5-10TB SSDs will be the standard by then.

and the limit of op_return is not stopping the bad actors from creating crap on the chain if they want to anyway?
still running knots 29.2 and core 29.0 separately but sadly i dont see 30.0 doing any harm to something already available when it comes to spamming the ledger
1. The OP_RETURN limit doesn't do anything.
2. Running knots does not prevent OP_RETURN transactions in any significant way.
3. There has been no significant change with the network since the release of Core v30.

Re: Is buying KYC accounts really worse than not gambling at all?
in Gambling discussion
I may not completely understand what you mean but then, let me point out that casinos themself don't sell kyc verified accounts, it is individual gamblers like me and you that choose to trade kyc verified accounts, and this is actually a dangerous business or trade because either the buyer of the account or seller or both of them could get in serious trouble if the account is used for illegal or shady stuffs like laundering of money and stuffs..
The seller is not going to get into any serious trouble for this. You need to compare this to real world items. Do you get in trouble if the next owner of whatever it is that you sold does something with the item that you sold? There are even cases where the handover of the item is done before the complete legal transition of the ownership is complete depending on where you live. So if someone kills intentionally someone with a car that is under my name, do I go to prison for murder? Of course not.

The buyer of the account could be in trouble the previous owner used the account for illegal stuff, or if the account was verified with fake documents and along the line, the casino requires a fresh verification.
Yes.

The seller of the account could also get in trouble if he used his original documents for verification and the buyer uses the account for illegal activities.
Or both can get in trouble if the account is used for any crime and both the new and old owners gets arrested.
No. The worst thing that could happen to you is that you get convinced for some degree of fraud. Nothing else besides that is going to happen. As I believed I have mentioned before in this thread, the people who are commenting here absolutely have zero knowledge about the KYC market. It is a huge market, the supply is tremendous and it is pushing the prices of things down. If people were regularly going to prison for selling their KYC then the supply would diminish and the prices would go up. That's not the current state of things.

It is very wrong to buy an account especially when it's a casino one with past activities.
This is a sad joke. The existence of KYC laws is what is "very wrong". The trading of KYC accounts and services is a response to an useless and totalitarian law that does not do anything at all against crime.

Re: When gambling is FUN, You’re Losing… when It’s BORING, you’re winning
in Gambling discussion
Funny thing about gambling ... when it feels exciting and entertaining, it usually means you’re losing money. The thrill, the rush, the ups and downs… that’s the casino doing its job perfectly. But when gambling starts to feel boring, that’s when you’re probably doing it right. You’re being patient, disciplined, managing your bankroll, and not chasing every bet. It’s no longer about fun but it’s about profit.

So, if you’re having too much fun while gambling, you might wanna check your balance… because the real winners are usually the ones quietly grinding, not celebrating every spin or bet.
What are you trying to imply here? I can't have fun and have a proper bankroll management? Unless you are depositing more money or bringing more money to the table then you can have as much fun as you want. It is possible to be disciplined and gamble like you are a teenager discovering the world. Not all adults are boring even if most of them are, you know?  Smiley

There is no time that you are doing the gambling right if you are relating it to just fun and boring or boredom or whatever it is called. If you are gambling and not having fun, it is better not to gamble at all. Gambling can be boring and still you might be losing. But if you still do it for fun and lose small amount of money, that is better. There are a lot of thing people do for fun and that the people will not care about the money that they spend on the thing to have the fun.
The logic of OP doesn't make sense at all, it is quite stupid in fact. We know according to the basics that:

  • A person should not gamble with the goal of earning money, it never works out.
  • Instead they should gamble for entertainment and have a good bankroll management.

So according to OP I should gamble for entertainment in a way that is boring?  Cheesy

Re: Send it to an altcoiner and say nothing
in Bitcoin Discussion
I love how you completely emphasized on the delusional mindsets of altcoins investor without leaving anything unmentioned.
"Altcoin investor". Lol, I'm stealing that phrase from now on.
The irony, he thinks he understood this post and then he mentions altcoin "investors"  Smiley

Yes, I used to believe paid tweet as partnership, but now I have wisen just moments ago, after you mentioned it. Thx sire!
The irony with shitcoiners is that they have called the Lightning Network, an amazing and extremely well working L2 vaporware for years and meanwhile they call paid tweets "partnerships". 99.9% partnerships that are announced by shitcoin projects are complete vaporware.

That staking bit is correct, how many coins have I staked that vanished in value, that there was nothing left of worth to unstake.
Staking is trash, POS is one of the biggest scams that shitcoiners managed to pull on retail. It is great to see yourself earning 10-20% APR, meanwhile the value of your holdings is down 50-90% in the same time period.  Roll Eyes

Sent this to a friend..
and this was what i got as a response on his status
Usually if they didn't at least partially red pill themselves there is no way to get through to them.

Re: Removing OP_return limits is an huge mistake
in Development & Technical Discussion
I don't think I agree on this. Yes, Bitcoin must be a permissionless network. But no, I don't think any arbitrary should be embedded.

I think the OP_RETURN and other various techniques are simply a flaw in the Bitcoin network. Sure, you can do some complex things like Discreet Log Contract. But people would argue that more complex network like Ethereum L2's or even IPFS are much better solution for data storage.
Just because you think this that doesn't validate your opinion in any way. Unless you have a solution to this problem, your opinion is practically worthless. If you spend more time reading about this topic you will see that there are no ways to prevent arbitrary embedding. If we removed OP_RETURN fully on a consensus level this would lead to embedding of data in ways that are much worse.

I think Monero is peak Bitcoin in the way that it is a p2p digital cash system without all these "flaws" that Bitcoin have, which allow for data storage.
Monero has many flaws of its own, the only benefit that it has is the transaction privacy. Don't exaggerate, especially not when it almost underwent a successful 51% attack.

Yes, there may be "legit" projects with good intentions. But why can't they just push that stuff into a L2 and push only a small commitment on-chain? Wouldn't that make chain more efficient at doing what it was supposed to do, transacting coins, while also inheriting the strengths of Bitcoin?
You can tell them to do it and if they say No, what are you going to do about it? You said it yourself Bitcoin must be a permissionless network but at the same time you want to dictate to others how they should do things. These 2 stances are not compatible, and in any case no attacker will listen to you.

Re: AI Spam Report Reference Thread
in Reputation
It's a shame to see nutildah and JJG arguing like this. JJG spends many hours reading the forum, more than anyone else, I think. There have been many times when I've noticed that he's given me a merit, I go to the thread in question and see that he's read everything, giving merit to the posts he thinks deserve it. Easily, of all the merits he gives, some will have gone to shitposters. It has happened to all of us, and to him, being a source of merits, even more so. If the argument had been developed constructively, perhaps nutildah could have acknowledged the good work that JJG does, instead of focusing only on the bad. And JJG could try to be more careful not to give merit to shitposters in the future.

But unfortunately, things seem to have escalated.
The escalation is unfortunate, but both parties are right to some extent. What JJG is doing is great. Imagine reading all those junk posts in hopes of finding legitimate users to merit, I do not have the iron-man patience needed do that because 99% of those posts are pure and generic trash. On the other hand nutildah is also right. One of the reasons I never tread into the Speculation section and those mega threads is that most of the posts there are the stupidest and most generic bullshit possible. Most people are replying to each other, even to their own accounts and farming colleagues with the same pattern of posts.

What JJG is doing is honorable and he should continue to do it, but at the same time he could adjust his meriting strategy. IMHO in a section that is as bad as that one it would be better to reward original or unusual posts with more merit and ignore the generic posts completely. It is always better to give out fewer merit in total than to distribute it all among mediocre third world spammers. And if by any chance theymos said something else regarding this in the past, ignore him as he's frequently wrong on many things.  Tongue

Re: Removing OP_return limits seems like a huge mistake
in Development & Technical Discussion
Now that Core 30 has been published for more than a week: Is there already a recognizable pattern of increased data transaction (OP_RETURN) usage?
I don't see any significant change in anything, anywhere.

There are of course "only" about a few hundreds publicly available Core 30 nodes so far, if I interpret the change in the "Other" on Bitnodes User Agents stats correctly. So maybe those who use OP_RETURN for images, audios etc. still mainly have to use the direct payment to miners.
Unfortunately there are many people who are stilled convinced that running Knots will prevent the OP Return spam. I think this will need a few more months until we see some clarity. I didn't update my node yet either but I intend to.

Re: Hateful Remarks Against Nigeria by Forum User Satofan44

Grin Grin dude I don't belong to any private group, talk more of belonging to a private group that engage in account farming. And if you really understand me and how I operate in this forum you will notice that I always mind my business, because I don't like troubles, but surely troubles will come, and when they come I always avoid them. And as for Mia Chloe I don't know if you mentioned him in any random thread if for now mentioned it, and I gest the thread will be in the technical boards.
If not then, where are the many threads where you have seen me criticize Nigerians?

Now I understand the source of your anger my friend, and if you ask me I will suggest you don't take it personally, because what you called insult are just mere criticism which is normal, countries do criticise themselves, and citizens of another country also criticise another countries president, especially when the president of that country do something or pass a law that don't really look ok to them, even we Nigerian's we do criticise our president when do something that is not cool will the citizens and I am to believe that US citizens and others countries citizens so same. And nobody is also stopping you from criticising another country's president nor their citizens if they behave or act in a way that don't really look ok to you, so my friend don't take criticism to be an insult. And please note this am not trying to pay defence here, and Just telling you how things is to be seen.
What is criticism if not simply a more eloquently worded insult?  Smiley

mind my business and also to stay away to from anything that will cause me troubles my friend.
That's a good example of why this place has a big spamming problem. People are minding their business to maximize their earnings and stay out of trouble.  Smiley

Even if a wicked man is learned, he is abandoned.
I'll take abandonment any day over being surrounded by Pakistani or Nigerian child molesters. Thank you.

Did you notice how I completely ignored anything Satofan44 said? That's intentional: it's completely irrelevant to the discussion on freedom of speech.
Thanks, LauraV.
