Nottingham Forest managed to beat Aston Villa at home by a single goal and secured the advantage. To be honest, I wasnt expecting Nottingham to win; I thought Aston Villa would come away with a draw and then advance by winning at home, but it doesnt look like that will happen. Now Nottingham has secured a significant advantage. In the away match, theyll likely play defensively and sit back. Even though Nottinghams chances of advancing have improved, Aston Villa is a team capable of winning by a wide margin at home.
Many people expected Aston Villa to win the first leg playing away against Nottingham Forest, but the result turned out to be disappointing, Nottingham Forest win by single goal from a penalty spot, they attacked more than Aston Villa, and from the result of the game, I think they deserved to win the match, they gave their all to get a win at home and maybe they can defend well in the second leg to reach the final. Aston Villa performance wasnt what we expected.
Though before the match, I said that we shouldnt underestimate Nottingham Forest due to their current form in the Premier League, they are playing well right now to avoid the relegation zone and with that same performance they can reach the Europa League final. Aston Villa will have the advantage of playing at home to score more goals and go to the final, but they must play at the best level.
Indeed as I was one of them but somehow Notthingam played well last night and a well deserved victory in my opinion with a few extra chances to score for 2-0...but like you said above , Nottingham is fighting tooth and nail to make the best impression of their club in decades and I'm sure everyone around the club wants them to have as much success as they can in Europa League and then focus on the rest of EPL.
