Re: Why reusing a bitcoin address can reduce your privacy
in Beginners & Help

This does make sense. Because in Ideal sense we also need to know who that particular address is from plus I just thought around an important factor too, which is when you try to spend, you are eventually going to get a shuffle of those coins to change addresses and the more you spend the more that happens.

The two main factors here are; it has to actually be transparent so the address can be linked back to the user plus we still want it as private as possible so public keys obviously are a big no no.

Re: Do you think bookies knows team to win?

Actually statistics and probability are two very important aspects of math that you just can't separate from gambling especially for the bookies. I've seen some articles that claim that some casinos use experienced gamblers and analysts for data collection and management but for odd arrangements I believe it's more of statistics and probability.

I believe it's also one of the major reasons why you will naturally see a temperature with a winning streak have way smaller odds than a smaller team who has a statistical lower chance of winning.

Re: RBF vs CPFP: Which Is More Effective for Stuck Transactions?

This is most likely a very old version. Even the mobile version of ELECTRUM for a long while now actually supports RBF plus there are two main options one which allows you to pay the extra in fees from the transaction and one that allows you preserve the transaction and pay for the extra in fees from your remaining balance.

The second one only works if you didn't try to empty the wallet with the outgoing transaction. Just try to use the new ELECTRUM wallet even though a couple features on desktop are missing on mobile it's still worth it in my opinion actually.

Address reuse has been discussed continuously on the forum and the simple way I like to dish this message out to newbies is just use the receive button anytime you want to receive. Literally all wallets are programmed to shuffle addresses that's why HD wallets are the standard today. Just make sure you verify what you copied is right though.

I think more of this discussion should be directed towards how this problem can be fixed likely for campaign participants. A couple nice Ideas won't hurt plus I think it's very much worth discussing. That being said I've seen some places that ask for your public keys claiming to fix this issue but it's even way worse for your privacy.

Re: [CHARTS] Monthly Overview Of Nigeria Local Board📈 Monthly Merit Reward

First off I'm still trying to phantom why you guys like violence so much on this board. Well I don't wanna associate myself with anything uncalled for and unnecessary so I'll go straight to point. Amphenomenon has been making this data available for over a year now and I don't think he's missed a month so yeah it's why I try to support him.

Many other data kinda similar to this across the forum are posted once or twice after that abandoned so I believe that makes this different. @TokenTikas I'm not trying to belittle your work but next time try to collaborate or speak with someone before something like this. Thanks for your efforts I'll reward you some merits this time when I get a refill.

Re: What dust mean in bitcoin and why small amount can be a problem?
in Beginners & Help
I know you don't mean it, but as we are in the Beginners & Help section, we shall not confuse newbies with incorrect or inaccurate statements. A block with no transaction IS invalid, taking your sentence by the letter. The very first and mandatory present transaction of every block has to be the coinbase transaction, therefore what you call an "empty block" is actually a block with a single coinbase transaction but none other, like from mempool or whereever a miner pulls transactions out of his hat..
Congratulations on a a successful ragebait lol... Loll thanks for clarifying and THIS is actually what I did mean. You are on point same as I am because is a similar argument with; is "an empty cup" on a table empty or filled with air.

Quote
It's Knots, not Knox (Samsung labeled Knox for something like fancy pants mobile device security stuff) and to my knowledge Bitcoin Knots (filter crap) doesn't prevent "empty blocks".
Excuse me being a pedantic.
Yeah this was fully typo corrected it already. Loll fortunately your pedantic nature has or likely in no time will help a newbie better understand why empty blocks are even a thing in the first place. Ohh interesting well let me sacrifice my smerits left so you can enjoy 4000 Cheesy

Good talk but next time please save us the stress and just use paragraphs don't really fancy long talks and still adding a conclusion with the title "conclusion". Well concerning the RBF and CPFP they have their use cases for just regular send and receive RBF is actually the best option.

CPFP usually comes in when there are multiple low fee transactions and because of their UTXO connection you can make the child pay a bigger fee that will force miners to confirm the parent and the child simultaneously.

Re: What dust mean in bitcoin and why small amount can be a problem?
in Beginners & Help
Once a node receives a new block, it checks whether the block is valid or not. If the block is valid, it's added to the blockchain. In other words, nodes check whether the block follows consensus rules or not.
It doesn't matter whether the transactions that have been included in the block follow nodes' standard rules or not.
And this exactly explains why we can have a totally empty block and by empty block I'm referring to one with no transactions so long the block is valid and has been successfully hashed other nodes have to add it for extra validation and I think it was where using bitcoin Knots was trying to be different.

Most of them are still leaving high fee rates which makes dust limit higher. Ordinarily I was almost becoming certain that 1000 sats as the minimum till LoyceV shocked me with a 100sat transaction through his node.

Re: Is there a way to figure this out?
in Development & Technical Discussion

Well I do understand what you are saying but the main point I'm trying to make is if for example I made a transaction a couple weeks ago, is it possible for me to actually go back and check the transaction and get the node that propagated the transaction? I've been doing a little reading for a while now. From what I've gathered so far it seems it's not possible but I'm still looking to see if there's a way around it actually.

Try dust limit or try inputs less than dust limit if they are going to be accepted on their mempool.
I received a 40 sat transaction last year. Start reading here.
Honestly I'm surprised to see this never thought it's possible looks very feasible for paying forum evil fees last I tried I couldn't broadcast less than 1000 sat/vbyte but I can't remember whose node I was connected to.

Re: Organized religion and Gambling, moral or are people just against gambling.
in Gambling discussion
~snip
Till date I haven't come across a religion that supports gambling. One of the reasons I think it's that way is because on a statistical basis gambling has had more negative effects on people than positives and it mostly stems from addiction greed and love for money which are actually frowned upon in most religion.

Then again it's logically easy for people to create double standards from something they perceive they are gonna benefit from which is why I prefer to call it a neutral act. Unfortunately it's easier to make it negative than positive.
